How to add your T9 language
- Download t9languages.zip. It includes T9 languages:
Czech Dutch Finnish French German Greek Hungarian Italian Norwegian Polish Portuguese Romanian Slovak Spanish Swedish Turkish
- Extract t9xxxxldb.dll and t9imeres.dll.0xxx.mui of your language to \Windows on the phone.
- Add appropriate values to [HKLM\T9 Input Method\LDBs] and [HKLM\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages] and restart the phone.
Czech T9 example:
- Extract T9CzechLdb.dll and T9ImeRes.Dll0405.mui from t9languages.zip to \Windows
- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\LDBs], add string value '0405' with data 'T9CzechLdb.dll'
- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages], add '0405' to the list of 'Available', so the data will be '0409,0419,0405'
- Restart the phone.
List of Locale IDs can be found here

Java Manager
- If you run 'Java Manager' and it says 'Failed to run image \windows\target.img' that means you're not quite attentive to what people write for you in ReadMe.txt files. Just copy target.img.zip from WM5 archive to \Windows folder on your phone and 'Java Manager' will never complain about lost images.

Standby mode (only v4.0 and lower for Feeler/Amadeus)
- This WM5 version has a sort of 'standby' mode. After some timeout (that can be configured in Settings > Power Management > Display time out) the phone turns the screen off and doesn't react to any buttons except the Red (Hangup) button. This is normal (but not quite handy). When you talk to someone on the phone and need to look at the screen don't press the Red button, otherwise your call will be disconnected, but instead press Volume Up or Down to return your phone from the 'standby' mode.
|
| Hard Reset
Don't play too much with the registry. The most problems people have with WM5 are because of experiments in registry or replacing files in \Windows folder. If anything goes wrong (the phone hangs, can't find a network, programs crash or can't start etc.) you can hard reset your phone.
- Restart your phone (or turn it off and on).
- On booting screen press [1] to reset registry ('Clean HIVE(1):' toggles from 'N' to 'Y'), press [2] to restore the Storage (phone memory) and \Windows folder ('Format Par.(2):' toggles from 'N' to 'Y').
- Wait until WM5 started.
Needless to say that all data in the phone memory (including Contacts and SMS) will be lost after a hard reset.

- Windows detects a new hardware and runs 'Found New Hardware Wizard'.
- Choose 'Not this time' and press Next.
- Choose 'Install from a list or specific location' and press Next.
- Browse to folder where you extracted the files to and press Next.
- Wait untill 'Nedge2k WM5 USB Modem' driver is installed and press Finish.
Read here how to set up a GPRS connection using installed USB modem.
MMS configuration
- Go to Settings > Connections > GPRS and press Menu > Add to add your 'MMS connection' (or select 'Beeline MMS' and press Menu > Edit to edit existent connection).
- Set 'Connects to' to 'Secure WAP Network', fill in your Access point (e.g. 'mms.beeline.ru'), User name (e.g. 'beeline'), Password (e.g. 'beeline') and probably rest of settings if your operator gave them to you and press Done.
- Run 'MMS Composer', go to Settings and press Menu > Message center.
- Press Menu > New to add your 'MMS message center' (or Menu > Edit to edit existent 'Beeline').
- Fill in 'Message center website' (e.g. 'http://mms/'), 'WAP gateway' (e.g. '192.168.94.23') and press Save.
MMS reading/sending works only if your phone isn't connected to the PC.
Default 'WAP Gateway Port' is 9201. If operator gave you different port, run any Registry editor, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\YOUR_MMS_CENTER_NAME] and correct "GatewayPort" value.

Changing splash/shutdown screens
- Make your jpg (or png) images with size 176 x 220.
- Copy them to some folder in the phone (e.g. \Windows). Don't place them to Storage Card.
- Run any registry editor and add a registry key 'splash screen' to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft].
- Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\splash screen] and add string values 'CarrierBitmap', 'CarrierShutdownBitmap', 'MSBitmap' and 'MSShutdownBitmap'.
- Edit added string values, so as they point to your images. Use full pathes to the images even if they are placed in \Windows.
- Reboot your phone.
